The amount that the government is estimated to have to pay to move military personnel property is the Government Constructed Cost, or GCC.
The government to give you the same amount of money, no matter how much you spend, so if you do not spend that much money on the move, you can actually make a nice profit. The first thing you need to do with your DITY move, is you need to visit your local Traffic Management Office (TMO) or Joint Personal Property Shipping Office (JPPSO). If you move your belongings without first talking with them and getting the correct paperwork in order, you will not be reimbursed.
